Calgary

Calgary is a vibrant city where we host 2 regular programs, Power soccer and Para soccer. Keep your eyes out for Boccia try-it days in our events! Scroll down to learn more about each.

Power Soccer

What is Power Soccer?

Powerchair soccer has been described as “playing soccer in go karts!” by our athletes. Plastic or metal footguards are attached to the front of power wheelchairs to maneuver a giant soccer ball. It is a fast paced sport that requires teamwork and skillful driving, which helps to build power-chair skills, dexterity and hand eye coordination.

The first session for new players is always free.

Pre-registration is required to ensure we have enough equipment. Please email edmonton@acpsa.ca if you plan to try a session.

The ACPSA has partnered with the Alberta Soccer Association to provide this program.

Recreational Program

Join us for this fast-paced team sport, held in a fun, supportive environment to develop soccer skills. Players are introduced to different drills and strategies to challenge their teamwork and driving skills. The driving and reflex skills gained will improve an individual’s ability to navigate their environment even outside of the soccer court. Competitive minded athletes may also join this practice!

All ages and ability levels are welcome. No experience needed and foot-guards are provided. However, an individual must have their own power wheelchair to participate.

We welcome anyone with a visual, physical, cognitive or developmental disability to join our group!

Individuals of all ages and abilities can participate. The first session for new players is always free.

Each session aims to provide a ratio of 1 on 1 support for each athlete with the help of our volunteers and soccer coaches. Athletes are provided support, but also given the freedom and autonomy they need to build confidence, hone skills, and progress at their own pace.
