Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities


Head Coach

The Head Coach is responsible for the planning, implementation and development of a program. 

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours bi-weekly

Qualifications:

  • Have assisted with sport specific program for longer than one year
  • First Aid & CPR Certified
  • NCCP Multisport Module A&B Certified 
  • Additional sport specific certifications are an asset
  • Police Record Check
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Opportunities

  • Competition and travel to local tournaments, provincial, national and world games
  • Financial assistance towards attending higher level coaching courses upon approval by the ACPSA board

Assistant Coach

Assistant Coaches support the head coach in the planning and implementation of program plans, and work with athletes directly to assist athletes in developing their skills within the program. 

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours biweekly

Qualifications:

  • Have assisted with sport specific program for longer than 6 months
  • First Aid & CPR Certified
  • NCCP Multisport Module A&B Certified 
  • Additional sport specific certifications are an asset
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Police Record Check

Opportunities

  • Can move into assistant head coach/ head coach position upon opening in position
  • Financial assistance towards attending coaching courses upon approval by the ACPSA board
  • Competition and travel to local tournaments, provincial, national and world games

Program Assistant

Program assistants work directly with athletes to ensure they develop skills within the program. 

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/ month

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Police Record Check

Opportunities

  • Can move into assistant head coach/ head coach position upon opening in position and completion of assistant coach qualifications
  • Financial assistance towards attending coaching courses upon approval by the ACPSA board
