Head Coach

  • Create block program plans and written practice plans for each session
  • Attend all program planning meetings
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to assistant coaches and program assistants
  • Delegate responsibility to assistant coaches (warm-ups, skill instruction).
  • Arrive at practice at least 15 minutes before practice begins
  • Ensure athlete and volunteer attendance is taken and recorded
  • Recommend training needs for assistant coaches and program assistants within the program if necessary
  • Assess athletes’ skills and abilities to attend provincial, national, and international competitions
  • Appoint an assistant head coach to take charge of a practice if the head coach is unable to attend
  • Ensure that all athletes are registered
  • Ensure that sport rules are taught and adhered to
  • Ensure that good sportsmanship and good conduct guidelines are followed by all athletes and volunteers
  • Notify all athletes and volunteers if a practice is cancelled
  • Treat athletes with the utmost dignity and respect
  • The Head Coach reports to the Activity Coordinator of their respective sport

Assistant Coach

  • Implement practice plans developed by the Head Coach
  • Evaluate athlete progress and make recommendations to the head coach
  • Assist with set up and take down of each practice
  • Actively interact with athletes during practices
  • If unable to attend practice, notify head coach in advance
  • Supervise athletes at practice

Program Assistant
